MEET THE DESIGNERS

Owners:  Kevin & Kelly Biggs

Design Style:  European Farmhouse

We’re Kevin and Kelly Biggs, owners of Old Brick House.  We’ve been married over 30 years, have 6 amazingly talented daughters, 3 sons-in-laws, 5 grandsons and 3 grand daughters.  Kevin, a native Arizonan,  swears his name isn’t on any of the ownership papers and he doesn’t know anything about design but you’ll see him working hard at every market and all the days in-between.  He recently retired as a forensic scientist for the city of Mesa Police Department.  He loves the outdoors, hunting, camping and going on adventures with our girls (they just took him skydiving for Father’s Day 😱). At 6’4” he may sometimes be called the jolly green giant and look a bit intimidating, but he’s a big teddy bear and we couldn’t do this market without him.

As for me, I started my journey in this business at a very young age visiting “swap meets” with my dad where he would buy golf clubs and hubcaps, fix, polish and resell them. Our family moved from California to Mesa, Arizona when I started high school (Dobson High class of 1987). I attended ASU and have a Bachelors in Elementary Education, a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and a second Masters in Educational Leadership.  After 13 years of teaching junior high theatre arts and student government at Greenfield Junior High in Gilbert, I retired to be home with our girls.  However, It didn’t take long before I was looking for a way to supplement our income, girls are expensive! I’ve always been a fan of decorating my home on a budget, mixing old with new, and repurposing items, which lead to an invitation to co-write on the blog “My Dear Trash”. For the first time my love of thrifting and my set design background came together and before I knew it I was designing rooms for clients and participating in vintage markets across the country.  I became a designer at Old Brick House June, 2016 and was offered the opportunity to buy the business December, 2016.  As the owners, we strive to provide our customers with a unique shopping experience each month.  We love getting to know each of you and sharing our stories of home and family.  We're grateful to be small business owners in Downtown Mesa and appreciate the love and support we receive.
